Recently, the Indian government has introduced the e-Visa facility for the citizens of Saudi Arabia. This move has come into action in order to increase the number of visitors from the kingdom as reported by the local daily Arab News.
‘I am happy to announce that the e-Visa facility has made available to Saudi nationals, and all related agencies have been informed,” as said by India’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ausaf Sayeed.
After the implementation of the e-Visa facility, the Saudi nationals can apply for the visa online from anywhere in the world as well as while sitting at home.
To apply for e-Visa, applicants will be required to submit valid identification documents, like passports, and a debit or credit card to pay the e-Visa fee. Moreover, they can opt for tourist, business or medical visas. After submitting the e-Visa application online, a confirmation will be filed within 24 hours and approval will granted within 72 hours. Afterward, e-Visa will be sent via email.
The e-visas will stand valid for one year and there will be an option for multiple entries. As per the report, each stay is valid up to 90 days.
The decision to add Saudi Arabia to the list of countries eligible for e-Visas was primarily declared in February. India has also decided to eliminate the bio-metric visa system for Saudi nationals. The two countries have been trying to improve bilateral ties in recent years. India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Riyadh in April 2016 while Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman made a trip to New Delhi in February. Prince Mohammed also said during his visit that he saw investment opportunities worth more than $100bn in India over the next two years.
