e-Visa India

India is a beautiful country with a remarkable history and has a number of worth-visiting places. But to enter into the country,a visa to India has to be obtained first. Earlier, the regular visa has to be applied for, by physically visiting the Embassy to enter the territories of the country. But as technology evolved, e visa to India was introduced by the Indian Government in order to ease the process of obtaining a visa to India.

A tourist visa on arrival scheme was introduced on January 1, 2010, that was eventually replaced by an online ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) scheme on November 27, 2014. In April 2015, the scheme was renamed to ‘e tourist visa India’ to remove all the confusion regarding visa on arrival. As of now, 169 countries have been made eligible by the Government of India.

As per the latest update, short term medical treatments, yoga courses, casual business visits, and conferences have been also included in the electronic visa India as earlier these can only be availed under medical, student or business visas.
